Iza Daddy

“Viggo” is a gorgeous warhorse who retired at age 11 after a whopping 75 starts. In December 2024, we treated a bone chip in his fetlock with PRP (platelet rich plasma) and restarted his training in January 2025. Viggo is a 17.1, gorgeous bay with so much potential. He is one to watch!

McMercelus

“Mercury” is a 2018 grey gelding, who retired after 22 starts due to a sesamoid fracture. He came to us very underweight and subdued. He spent some time in stall rest to heal his fracture and was treated for ulcers to help heal his gut to promote weight gain. He is a sweet and gentle horse who is slowly coming out of his shell. In January 2025, he started retraining and is such a joy to work with.

Spicey Secret

“Cecily” is a lovely 8 year old bay mare, retiring from the track after 27 starts. She is a kind mare with some wear and tear on her body from her racing days. We are working on rehabilitating her hooves and getting her comfortable enough to be a companion horse.

Moon Pie Money

Moon Pie is a 2021 filly who fractured her knee and shin, causing her to retire from racing after 3 starts. She has responded well to a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment to heal the fracture and is now enjoying her time turned out in a herd of other mares. We will be giving her a full year post injury before she begins retraining.

B R Big Red

Ichabod is currently being fostered by Raese Johnson - special thanks to her for sponsoring his care!

“Ichabod” retired after 27 starts, 11 firsts and over $219k career earnings. After he retired from racing, he was put out to pasture for 5 years before he came to us. His owner had died and he had nowhere to go in his condition - with an old knee fracture and overgrown, split hooves, he had clearly been neglected. Ichabod’s former racing trainer found out about his old horse and kindly sponsored his intake costs.

Ichabod is doing so much better as his hooves are being rehabbed and his dental issues are being tended. His knee is partially fused, but he is looking more sound and comfortable all the time. This special horse deserves a happy ending and we hope he finds his perfect person once he is well enough to move along.

MGM Winter Ghost

“Yurei” is a 2014 grey gelding who retired from racing after 17 starts due to a suspensory ligament injury that caused significant damage to his fetlock. He was previously adopted, but returned to our program when his adopters could no longer care for him. Our open door policy allows adopters to return any horse to us for any reason.

Yurei is not sound for riding, but enjoys life as a companion horse. He is a great friend to our other companion horse, Ichabod. We plan to care for him for the rest of his days in sanctuary at our facility.
